2006 Natural History Conference
and Annual General Meeting
Nature Nova Scotia
Federation of Nova Scotia Naturalists
All are welcome! If you like to observe birds, animals, plants, flowers, rocks etc., want to know more about them or just wish to talk with others who enjoy natural history, you will enjoy these meetings. Naturalists from all over Nova Scotia will be gathering to enjoy the outdoors in the Western Annapolis Valley.
-
The conference theme "Our Natural 'History': Changing Lands and Waters" is in keeping with the recent commemoration of the establishment of the first enduring European settlement in Canada by French explorers in 1605 . We seek to highlight the "history" in "natural history" by examining how our habitats and wildlife have changed over the past 400 years. In addition, we will hear about some of the recent initiatives undertaken by local organizations pertaining to education, research, monitoring and restoration of some of our natural treasures that have become somewhat tarnished over time. Field trips will explore some of the natural areas that make Southwest Nova Scotia such an enjoyable place to live and visit. We have an interesting story to share with naturalists from across the province. - Hosts: Annapolis Field Naturalists
